No Fun November! ~

I can pretty much say, I either have Senioritis or... I'm just SO ready for winter holiday. It's been a long year, and I've done and learned a lot of things I never imagined I'd be doing. Just even within the semester, I've progressed so much. I didn't get to continue reading a book a day or week... I'm very sad about that.

I work a little less, but for some reason it feels the same. I used to do homework on weekends but now, I just want to be lazy like a cat and either sleep all day or just watch television.

I feel like a slob.

Everything goes by me like a blur, and I'm not exactly sure what eventful things have been happening. If that makes any sense.

However, I did look into studying abroad and right now is operation night unicorn. Or, operation save a ridiculous amount of money so I can go to another country for about 6 weeks. I know it sucks and seems just as silly to say I'm saving all this money but in the end it's going to be worth it when I'm hopping on public train or bus and going to a university in a country where there are more Asians than I've ever seen in my entire life all in one place!

Needless to say, I'm REALLY stoked but at the same time, a little nervous because I've never been quite this... outgoing? spontaneous? I'm not sure what the word is, maybe, just maybe, it's independent.

Anyway, just a quick update. Until next time world!

Still here!

I have not disappeared, I'm still here! I'm just trying to take over the world, like the Brain! Just kidding, but Fluffy over there sure does look like she wants to...

Just kidding, I'm still here buried in work, but here. I promise. Only because lately, I've been sucked into Pinterest, and believe me... I have a few things up my sleeve that I am DYING to do.

So, the agenda lately has been work work work! I think the fun will begin late next month. I can't believe we've already gone through half the semester! Finals are probably just around the corner and I'll be in WINTER HOLIDAY! Whoo! I am so pumped!

However, as excited as I may be, I'm also really worried. I've had to come up with a plan A and a plan B and it all depends on my THEA exam next month. So I'm hoping I do well! Wish me luck!

I have some time to study tomorrow and I did a section of math today. Whoever said Asian people are good at math, well meet an exception! Though, I'm sure I can do it, with proper refreshment and a tutor; minus the thousands upon thousands of distractions.

So, now my goal is to come up with about 8k before the end of May. I'm going to start packing my lunches and doing what I can to save every penny! I'm starting a fun, albeit late, but still... I'm going to do this! It's going to be FUN!

Until next time, stay safe world!

LOVE ~

Here is ONE of my definitions of love.

You know, when you read those little blogs or whatever that have what "love" means to little kids? Well, here's one of mine.

From a BIG GIRL point of view.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

One of the things that catches my attention is when I just randomly picked up my guitar and played chords, over and over again. Especially my daddy because he can play a little; and he never really hesitates to stop what he's doing for a moment to help me tune my guitar, knowing I was going to sit for another hour or two playing the same chords.

They were there to listen to me try to learn piano, playing the same system over and over again because I'm a perfectionist and I want to at least make it coherent before moving on. They heard me play the same songs, over and over again. They probably knew when I messed up every single time.

They were there to listen to me practice my choir music. Listening to the same piano accompaniment play on repeat as I sing the same notes and words. They listened to me perform my songs during recital, listening as if it was the first time they had ever listened to me sing/play it for the first time. Proud and happy. Even though I'm sure they could sing with me by the end of it all.

I think, this is ONE form of love, in it's truest and purest states. Why do I think this? Because, I have a little brother, who practices piano much the same way. He'll play the same songs, for example - 'Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling', over and over again. He'll mess up and start all over again, just like I do.

They don't say a thing about him, but once in every million times, I'll get a little annoyed. Usually it's when I do my homework.

Hm, I know I love my brother, but I guess this is one of the little ways that I show him. Maybe he'll figure this out when he's older too.

Let's see...

So, today marks the 10th year of 9/11.

I know there will be many, many blogs and articles and television reports and such on today.

Ten years ago, I was in the 6th grade and to me, it felt like any ordinary day. I don't remember much, but I remember I had learned about the incident at lunch time when a friend of mine told me that a classmate's parent had told them. I wasn't exactly sure what to think at the time, maybe I was thinking - "Are they serious? Or is this some kind of telephone game."

I'm sure my teachers at the time told us what happened, but really.. I vaguely remember. What really stands out in my mind, is the constant television reports. The television showing clip after clip of footage, over and over again. I was sucked in watching, but at the same time horrified at how another human being could be so evil towards another human being, or in this case many humans towards other humans.

I also remember thinking, "why? why would someone do this?" and "what did anyone ever do to deserve this?" Even til this day, I wonder. I really do.

I would like to send my condolences to the families and friends out in the world. I don't remember who said it, but they said "today, we're all Americans". Maybe because, everyone in the entire world has a feeling for this day. People from all over the world were affected on this day, not just us.

- - - - - - - - - - -

Today, we actually celebrated my mother's birthday; and I know some people would frown at me and my family for doing so but, you have to realize, you can't stop celebrating something on a certain day just because of a tragic event. Sounds harsh, but no, I have been thinking about everyone on this day and even days leading up to today. Just because something terrible happens doesn't mean the world stops, doesn't mean you can't carry on with the ordinary.

I think it gives the people who "hate" Americans a satisfaction to see us wallowing in our past, we have to rise up and be strong and prove to them that yes, it was a tragic event, but that doesn't mean we're going to be weak all the time. I'm sure all those people are watching from heaven and they'd like to see us happy.

Reading Frenzy!

So, I just finished another one of the books I purchased from the university bookstore.

Love, Aubrey by Suzanne LaFleur
(You can purchase the book from Amazon.com used for $3 hardcover, limited quantity)

It's a really touching story and I admit, I did get teary-eyed in several places and I did giggle a little during the book.

It's a quick read and it's written beautifully, I enjoyed it thoroughly. This book wasn't even what I had expected it to be so it really caught me off guard. I most definitely recommend this to readers young and old because it has a good story to it and mainly because it's not what I used to read.

I'm surprised that this is LaFleur's first novel, I can't wait to see more work from her.

Which I just amazon-ed and apparently she has one called Eight Keys, I'm not in any hurry to find it, but maybe one day when I'm in Barnes and Noble or Half Priced Books, I'll look for it. For now, it's whatever I stumble upon.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I am enjoying the fact that I am able to read all these shot novels within a day's worth of time. It makes me feel really good, but I kind of want to start getting into deeper things. I've been meaning and wanting to re-read Brave New World for some time now. Perhaps I'll go find myself a copy of that.

I feel like, back in high school I didn't exactly know what the literature was talking about but I feel now, if I read it for pleasure instead of as an assignment I'll a) enjoy it much more and b) understand it better because I can read on my own pace rather than stick to a schedule. In my opinion, I would never want to read according to a schedule, there's no fun in that.

So, somehow right now my blog has shifted from dreams to books. I wonder where I'll be heading next but I'm hoping I can linger in the book world for a while longer. I love to read and I haven't had this much time to read in a long time, I feel like I'm getting back to who I really am again.

If I had all the time in the world...

So, it's been a while dear blog.

Arkansas was really nice! It was nice to get away from suburban life, but it's even nicer to know you get to come back.

Started school on Thursday, and I'm having a hard time adjusting. Especially when I have books lying around my room screaming "read me! read me!" It's like I'm Alice in Wonderland...

Anyhow, I finished The Immortal Life of Henreitta Lacks yesterday and oh I was so sad it had ended. I most definitely recommend this novel now, and found out I'll more than likely be using it for one of my assignments this semester. Pre-approved via professor already, I'm quite smug about it.

I also finished a book my best friend loaned out to me, half a year ago, called My Fair Godmother. Not bad for a teenage, high school, romance novel. It was a little bit predictable, but aren't they all? Though, I felt like this book was a bit immature... I guess it's probably because I read it right after Henrietta. It's quite a jump from genres and audiences, but if you want a quick joy read and feeling a little classic fairytale-ish then this is for you! I enjoyed it and recommend it for a light read, for me it was just bad timing. :X

You can purchase My Fair Godmother from amazon.com for $2 bucks used or $7 for the kindle. I believe my friend purchased hers from Half Priced Books for the average of the two.

If I didn't have so many other things to do for class, I'd be in another book coma! We'll see what I read next hm?

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Looking at the online page for testing, I only have 3 strikes to pass the THEA exam the way the department of Education wants me to, or else I'm pretty much screwed for my next semester.

Until next time I suppose! Stay safe world!

SUMMER!

As of Monday, I am FINALLY on Summer holiday! I'm very excited, because I get some time to read!

I am currently reading - The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
(You can purchase the novel from amazon.com for $8 or the Kindle version for $10)

I am a few chapters in, maybe a third of the way through the novel and I must say it is very good!
It's about the immortal HeLa cells that were extracted from a woman named Henreitta Lacks. Her cells are responsible for many of our medical scientific discoveries such as the cure for polio. However, the problem was, they were extracted and used for science without permission... and the novel is supposed to dive into the story of Henrietta Lacks as well as the family who never received a single penny from the discoveries...

I came across this book by asking one of our freshman orientation leaders what the key-note novel for freshman 1301 was, and she gave me the book.

I've never read a science non-fiction novel before, and I must say, this is a very good first impression on this genre. Too bad I can't say anything about it yet because I'm not finished but I recommend it based from what I've read so far.

Other than that, I finally get to go on vacation! A couple friends, Seung, and I have planned to go to Arkansas for a road trip before we kick off the fall semester. Although I have to work tomorrow and Friday, I plan on reading a great deal!

I just miss reading!

It's only been two hours...

Since I woke up this morning, I already knew that I'm going to have a long day.

Thoughts? : The school should have a designated sleeping area. The end.

I finally figured out what the 'call for help' button on the elevator does. It sends a police dispatch to the elevator. I discovered this fact this morning when I was going downstairs sleepily to grab some coffee. I got into the elevator, pressed (*1) and then (><), like clockwork and then noticed the little flashing light with the words embedded into the elevator wall "When flashing, help is on the way."

This definitely made me think for a moment, as I push the "cancel call" button hoping the light would turn off; but no, it does not. So the elevator stops and the doors open to reveal a police officer, and I'm hoping I don't get in trouble because obviously I don't need any help. Well he just smashes the (3) and sends me on my merry way downstairs. As I exit the elevator, I pass these two people while saying "excuse us" and then I'm like "what?! whose US?!" it's... me! "Excuse me."

What?

- - - - - - - - -

So, I didn't have the chance to record how excited I was to make my wristlet a couple weeks back but I thought I would, since I'm planning on more crafty projects in my future. I'm glad my parents were there to help me out, otherwise, I'm not sure what I might end up having... But now I know the whole works to it! So my next one will be super-duper easy to make! :]

- - - - - - - - -

I thought I'd also like to share my frustration, that I missed a really good deal from slickdeals.com. Godaddy.com was offering a full year domain contract for a dollar. Yes, a DOLLAR! $1! However, sad thing is, someone already snagged my name.

Dreaming again...

It appears that I happen to blog so much about my dreams. Perhaps, my waking life isn't as exciting.

Today I had two dreams, one was amazing but awfully sad at the same time.

In my first dream, I dreamt that I could fly. It wasn't the just spread your arms wide and take off kind of fly, it was like a swimming but in the air type of flying. Never in my life have I experienced this kind of 'flying' but, who knows.

The story of the dream didn't fully focus on flying. I was on the border between some some English speaking country and some Spanish speaking country (I believe). One poor, one rich. I was sent to go find others that were like me, but I don't remember who, what or why I was supposed to do that. I remember swim-flying, freely. I came across what looked like a cross between a barn and a shed, it was run down and the paint was faded. Then my dream just jumped to a grocery store and I was flying around in the store. I was flying over the produce, the people, the aisles... everything. Then it jumped again, and this woman was trying to get me to stop flying. We were outside and she was carrying a large gun, maybe a rifle (as if I would know what type of gun she was holding) and she shot straight up at me and it was as if I was in the movie 'The Matrix' I dodged those bullets. I remember flying higher and higher hoping to evade the bullets, but as soon as I got a certain height I remember having a hard time breathing and started to fall downwards. When I woke up, I was inside what looked like my house and I kept flying. I stayed close to the ceiling as much as I could trying to stay above the woman who was keeping me there. Then I woke up.

My second dream was about me in class. We had a project to do and I had forgotten to do the written portion of it, and I felt so dumb. It was time for presentations and someone's cell phone went off, it sounded like my alarm, but it wasn't mine. Next my phone rang, and I went to go turn it off. However, the trick is... when I turned it off, it rang again. I took the battery out of the phone and it continued to ring. My professor was not looking very peachy with me, and all I could do was raise my cell phone and my cell phone battery in the air and ask my professor "what can I do? I already took the battery out, but it's still ringing!"

Turns out, Seung was calling me on my cell phone and my alarm was going off. Very 'Inception'-like.

As I posted on FB, I'm really excited for my favorite Disney movie to come out in Diamond Edition! Here's a youtube video to spruce up my bland wall of text based posts.

Workity Work Work

So, have I ever mentioned how much I absolutely L♥VE my internship?

If this is what the advertising world is going to be like then, I am most definitely sure that this is where I want to be for the rest of my life. Work doesn't even feel like work [for the most part] when it's like this and with the people like this, it's just full of fun!

To the people who always preached to me about doing what you enjoy - THANK YOU! :] You're so totally right!

That's all I'm going to disclose. I just thought that the world should know, because the people there are amazing.

- - - - - - - - - -

After that is said, as I start approaching the time where I need to take the THEA exam in order to start my education courses, I wonder if teaching will be this fun?

If the puzzle pieces are how I imagine then I believe I will have an extremely tough time deciding what I want to do.

Re-Occuring Dream

So, this afternoon I had this dream when I was napping.

Crazy as it sounds, but I met Taylor Swift again in my dream and it was wonky!

Someone (I have no idea) and I were intending on going to her concert and so we were invited to spend the night at this really nice hotel. The room was a 2 bed, 2 bath, kitchen, and living space (with a small bar)... talk about nice huh? And well, we were starting to get hungry and I wanted desserts so we started looking in the fridge and such, but nothing was there for us.

Suddenly, Taylor Swift emerges from the other bedroom and she just plops down on the couch as if we weren't even there and we walk over to her and I'm REALLY excited at this point. Swift is holding some papers of designs and I complement on her color scheme because I truly like the colors she has on the paper and she starts going off about how she likes them too.

Naturally, I ask her if she would like to join us out for some kind of dessert. Pie, ice cream, cake.. really anything sweet. If I can remember correctly, she declines and so my friend and I make our way out to get our dessert. As we leave the hotel room, we notice a lot of people wanting to get into our hotel room and I'm feeling REALLY lucky.

We return to the hotel, but the door to the room is totally different. It's actually on a patio, and there's this couple who is sitting by the door watching it intently as if they were part of the paparazzi too and we ask them if they're looking for anyone and they said 'no' just a cricket. So we open the door and there's the cricket, and I think I stepped on it, but it didn't die.

That's when I woke up...

- - - - - -
That's the 2nd dream I've had where I got to meet Taylor Swift. Hm, maybe this is telling me something when October rolls around huh? :P

I'm really excited.

Happy MOMMIE'S day!

Happy Mother's day world! To all the past, present, and future mommies in the world.

I never thought about the future mommies, until I worked at Kohls, because for Mother's day they'd give each female employee a small gift. When I received one, I had asked the manager why I had received one even though I'm not a mother, and he replied to me "well, you'll be a potential mother in the future now won't you?" I had to just "touche" right there.

Anyway, today was such a beautiful day! The weather was absolutely gorgeous!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's day too!

On another note, it's finals week. So, you know what that means? Lots of studying!
See you next week!~

Ah, the joys of cramming...

So, for the past 3 days I have been "furiously" studying for my communications course, and how relieved I am!~

Nothing too exciting has happened...

I dreamed about Spanish on Wednesday, where somehow everyone was speaking Spanish, and then it was a dream about some fountain serpent goddess or something that I was trying to save her because everyone wanted her blood for some kind of powers... Who knows?

I then had a dream on Thursday about my Voice & Diction course, where all I remember is saying something about "oranges" and pronouncing it wrong and being corrected. Followed by my professor eating a banana and then telling me it tastes funny and that I should try some of it too.

Very strange indeed.

So, now my weekend is free for me to do whatever I wish! :]
I'm pretty stoked.

Dreaming...

I dreamed about playing a zombie video game last night. Over and over, it was the same "level".

The venue was a restaurant, it was a nice place. There were table cloths and candles on tables. Some zombies were eating and I guess enjoying their meal? Which I find strange, because, zombies are dead yet semi-alive... so how could they be enjoying a meal, even though it's such a primitive act, it could be considered sophisticated.

The goal was to jump on a higher table, that was curved like an elongated C or U to avoid the zombies, and to get the "clue" in one of the rooms. I remember, once my cousin and I were on the mission, and I had followed him jumping on the table and the table started to tilt over and we were leaning in the other direction to try to keep it from falling... this happened a few times, like a swing we gently rocked back and forth, eventually just hitting the ground and being found.

However, if a zombie saw you, it would alert all the zombies and they would come and tear you apart. So, every time I was seen and the zombies came rushing towards me... I'd quickly quit the game in my dream. It felt so realistic.

Eventually, by some chance, I found out that if I quit I can still stay within the game but in some kind of stealth mode and if a zombie touched me, I would be seen and then I'd proceed to probably die.

So, I tried this level several times and each time, I would fail. I made two zombie friends, who somehow "fell in love" with me (haha~) and they decided to keep me secret and not warn the others; they wanted to keep me alive. Though, as nice as they were, I still ended up having to restart because I was found again.

There were even times, when I was close to being torn to shreds and I wasn't able to quit the game which was very scary. I have no clue what triggered me to finally wake up from this "dream".
