LOVE ~

Here is ONE of my definitions of love.

You know, when you read those little blogs or whatever that have what "love" means to little kids? Well, here's one of mine.

From a BIG GIRL point of view.

One of the things that catches my attention is when I just randomly picked up my guitar and played chords, over and over again. Especially my daddy because he can play a little; and he never really hesitates to stop what he's doing for a moment to help me tune my guitar, knowing I was going to sit for another hour or two playing the same chords.

They were there to listen to me try to learn piano, playing the same system over and over again because I'm a perfectionist and I want to at least make it coherent before moving on. They heard me play the same songs, over and over again. They probably knew when I messed up every single time.

They were there to listen to me practice my choir music. Listening to the same piano accompaniment play on repeat as I sing the same notes and words. They listened to me perform my songs during recital, listening as if it was the first time they had ever listened to me sing/play it for the first time. Proud and happy. Even though I'm sure they could sing with me by the end of it all.

I think, this is ONE form of love, in it's truest and purest states. Why do I think this? Because, I have a little brother, who practices piano much the same way. He'll play the same songs, for example - 'Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling', over and over again. He'll mess up and start all over again, just like I do.

They don't say a thing about him, but once in every million times, I'll get a little annoyed. Usually it's when I do my homework.

Hm, I know I love my brother, but I guess this is one of the little ways that I show him. Maybe he'll figure this out when he's older too.

Let's see...

So, today marks the 10th year of 9/11.

I know there will be many, many blogs and articles and television reports and such on today.

Ten years ago, I was in the 6th grade and to me, it felt like any ordinary day. I don't remember much, but I remember I had learned about the incident at lunch time when a friend of mine told me that a classmate's parent had told them. I wasn't exactly sure what to think at the time, maybe I was thinking - "Are they serious? Or is this some kind of telephone game."

I'm sure my teachers at the time told us what happened, but really.. I vaguely remember. What really stands out in my mind, is the constant television reports. The television showing clip after clip of footage, over and over again. I was sucked in watching, but at the same time horrified at how another human being could be so evil towards another human being, or in this case many humans towards other humans.

I also remember thinking, "why? why would someone do this?" and "what did anyone ever do to deserve this?" Even til this day, I wonder. I really do.

I would like to send my condolences to the families and friends out in the world. I don't remember who said it, but they said "today, we're all Americans". Maybe because, everyone in the entire world has a feeling for this day. People from all over the world were affected on this day, not just us.

Today, we actually celebrated my mother's birthday; and I know some people would frown at me and my family for doing so but, you have to realize, you can't stop celebrating something on a certain day just because of a tragic event. Sounds harsh, but no, I have been thinking about everyone on this day and even days leading up to today. Just because something terrible happens doesn't mean the world stops, doesn't mean you can't carry on with the ordinary.

I think it gives the people who "hate" Americans a satisfaction to see us wallowing in our past, we have to rise up and be strong and prove to them that yes, it was a tragic event, but that doesn't mean we're going to be weak all the time. I'm sure all those people are watching from heaven and they'd like to see us happy.
